“We are conducting a pre-planned campaign, and on Thursday we shall be in Butoloogo Sub-county, Kanyogiga Parish. We want to freeze all candidates in the race,” Mbidde said while flagging off the convoy.

The campaign team, led by Simon Kayitana, a representative of the Banyarwanda community in the Buganda Kingdom Council, is tasked with soliciting votes across the constituency.

“This is the Mbidde High Command team, which is going to solicit votes across the constituency. It is well prepared to take on the mantle of winning the 2026 elections,” Mbidde said.

He expressed confidence that some of his opponents would begin losing momentum within three days of campaigning, citing their inability to sustain the race.

“I assure you that after Butoloogo, we shall move to Kiyuuni Sub-county, and within three days they will be out of the race because we are coming with a new strategy,” he added.

Mbidde also warned against electoral malpractice, vowing that no one would rig the election in the area.

He criticised Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, describing her associates as “wanderers without direction” and incapable of delivering meaningful outcomes for voters.

“The reason why DP does not have a presidential candidate is well known. My being an aspirant in Buwekula is also well known, so Madam Prime Minister, you should go slow and stop abusing me. Otherwise, go and ask the President why I am on this side,” Mbidde said.

He further pledged to tackle land grabbing in Buwekula, promising to address the issue within his first 12 months in office if elected.

Although a DP member, Mbidde declared his support for President Yoweri Museveni, citing the importance of protecting gains achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

“The 2026 NRM presidential theme is ‘Protecting the Gains.’ The relationship between DP and NRM is the main reason we should support Museveni—because we are protecting DP as one of those gains,” he said.

Supporters who joined the convoy pledged to campaign vigorously, vowing to raise the DP flag high across Buweekula County.
